Howard Properties planning to develop N. Madison Pallisades

Post by wheelkat, 05/23/2009, 16:15:

Help us save the last pristine pallisades in Northern Madison County. Howard Properties, without permits and approval, have begun bulldozing and creating roads in the Kentucky River flood plain. If you are interesting in helping stop this unwanted development, please contact me and give me an idea of what I can do to stop this. I am PERSONALLY being sued by the developer to force me to allow him easier access to this beautiful property. His attorneys are better funded and just better at abusing the process. I don't think I stand a chance unless someone steps in to help me.
The property I'm talking about is just off Exit 97 directly about the KY River. If you are driving south on I-75, look to the left as you are going across the bridge and you'll see the property he is planning to develop on the Madison County side. You won't be able to see the bulldozers and equipment, they're now working in the flood plain at the old Boonesborough Campground. If you drive the old road and cross the one lane bridge on the KY River, you'll be able to see all the excavating equipment.
Also, if would be willing to attend a public hearing to speak on behalf of saving this property from the planned 2300 homes and apartments (sometimes his permit applications say it will be 205 homes and lots)please contact me.
All suggestions will be considered. I'm paying for an attorney now and have spent thousands, but I'm reactive, not proactive. I need to be proactive. I need people to stand with me. Help me please.

Judy E. (I'm almost afraid to give my real name in fear of what the developer might do to me next. I was able to get the lien removed, but I had to agree to co-operate with developer and choose what I want on the pallisades.)

The location is just 1/2 mile from the water intake for Fayette County.

Frogs

Post by Ian, 03/06/2009, 11:42:

Today I walked around the old barn at Raven Run. There was a frog in my path, smoking a cigar. I love cigars!

The frog jumped onto my shoulder and then into my shirt. That little buger had the nerve to squirm his way down into my pants and I had a heckuva time gettin' him out.

Afterwards the frog exchanged phone numbers with me and Asked if he could have a piece of my delicious Pecan Pie.

I said only if you give me your frogpants. The frog was astonished at this remark and told me he didn't appreciate my vulgarity.

Today was a great day to exchange words with a frog.

Schools of Fish

Post by bradc, 07/15/2008, 22:37:

I walked the right-hand path to the Overlook today. It was a beautiful day to walk at Raven Run. When taking in the view from the Overlook, I looked down at the Kentucky River and could see a school of fish in the shallow waters - straight down and slightly left of the Overlook.

Afterwards, I walked the red path on to the Evan's Grist Mill. In the pool of water at the bottom of the waterfalls I saw another small school of fish.
